Ambassador Liu Zhenmin the day at the 64th session of the Joint Daisaku speak on Africa, made the above remarks. He said the financial crisis, China has overcome its own difficulties and continue to provide African countries, including non-reimbursable aid, interest-free loans, concessional loans, including types of assistance. China is the focus of assistance for strengthening China-Africa in agricultural development, infrastructure construction, human resources training, and medical and health fields, these are "the New Partnership for Africa's Development" in priority areas.
Liu Zhenmin said that in 2006 China-Africa Cooperation Forum Beijing Summit, the Chinese government announced that it would waive diplomatic relations with China and 33 African heavily indebted poor countries and least developed countries to close by the end of 2005 due to China the government interest-free loan debt. As of the first quarter of 2009, China has successfully remove these 32 countries, 150 pen maturity debt to China.
Liu Zhenmin said that besides, the Chinese government attaches great importance to African countries in market access, trade imbalances and other concerns, to take a large number of measures to strengthen trade relations with African countries. Sino-African trade in 2008 amounted to 1000 billion U.S. dollars of zero Liu Shibai points, an increase of 45.1%. Of which imports from Africa 56 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 54%.
He said that China's future will be in agriculture, education, health, medical care, clean energy and other areas to provide further assistance to African countries and support. We will also continue to actively support African countries in conflict prevention, conflict resolution and peace-building efforts.
Liu Zhenmin also said that, in order to achieve the "New Partnership for Africa's Development" and other objectives, the international community should attach great importance to the following: the implementation of aid commitments as soon as possible; should provide more additional financing; should respect the autonomy of African countries; should be extended south South cooperation; should help African countries in capacity-building; should strengthen the role of international agencies. |
